HR 4162 by Representatives Roe and Bergman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee will protect servicemembers from the “tax on troops” in which servicemembers pay $1200 for the Montgomery GI Bill, which most never use, choosing instead the Post-9/11 GI Bill – thereby wasting that $1200.  This bill puts off for 6 months the requirement that servicemembers in boot camp are forced to make the decision and sunsets the Montgomery GI Bill a decade after the bill’s passage.
