In an interview with KSNV News (Las Vegas), Will Hubbard, Marine veteran and Vice President of Veterans Education Success, warned that the ongoing government shutdown has left many veterans and surviving families without GI Bill payments. The issue stems from an IT system glitch at VA, compounded by the fact that federal staff cannot fix the problem while the government remains closed. Hubbard explained that affected veterans depend on these benefits for tuition and housing, yet they currently have no access to the GI Bill hotline, which was deemed non-essential and shut down. “Because of the shutdown, veterans are left in limbo—no payments, no answers,” Hubbard said. He called on Congress to reopen the hotline immediately and ultimately end the shutdown to restore educational and financial stability for veterans and their families.
