Former Legislative Counsel and Senior Associate, Advaith Thampi, J.D.

Washington, D.C. – Veterans Education Success is pleased to announce that Advaith Thampi, J.D., is joining the organization as Director of Government Affairs and Legislative Counsel.

Thampi, a champion for veterans and their families, previously advocated on Capitol Hill on behalf of The American Legion and Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) for significant pieces of legislation impacting the Department of Veterans Affairs, including the Honoring Our PACT Act and other bills affecting higher education benefits, healthcare, and National Security.

At Veterans Education Success, as Director of Government Affairs and Legislative Counsel, Thampi will monitor, track, and analyze federal legislation critical to protecting student veterans. He will focus on advancing legislation that protects veterans and their families and their earned benefits.

In 2005, after graduating from high school in Bakersfield, California, Advaith enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He deployed to Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2009-2010, serving as a crew chief on Marine C-130s. He has deployed around the world, including Okinawa, Japan, and throughout the Western Pacific.

Before serving as an advocate on Capitol Hill, Advaith went to college on the GI Bill while serving student veterans at the Veteran Resource Center at Irvine Valley College. Additionally, he served homeless veterans in Orange County during law school. In 2016, Advaith graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Irvine, and earned his Juris Doctor from Chapman University, Dale E. Fowler School of Law, in 2019.

In his free time, Advaith volunteers with Team Rubicon and is the Service Officer at American Legion Post 177 for the Department of Virginia.
