According to a release from Veterans Education Success, the federal government approved student aid to what turned out to be sham schools. Valerie Scott served in the National Guard for 10 years. She pursued a doctorate but was misled and left $400,000 in debt. She is speaking at a public hearing on proposed changes to student loan rules and how she feels her and other veterans were lured in by a now-for-profit university. She said she was promised a high-quality degree and was instead given disappointment and debt.
