Veterans Education Success Announces New Director of Racial Justice
New position will ensure equity and civil rights for veterans and military-connected students
Washington, D.C. – Veterans Education Success today announced the launch of a new area of advocacy for the organization and a new member of the leadership team to lead the work.
Isaac McMahan joined Veterans Education Success in the new role of Director of Racial Justice. Isaac will lead the organization’s new area of work in racial justice and equity for America’s military-connected students. His work will include both policy and legal activities.

Isaac brings experience in civil rights law and promoting access and success to law students of color. Isaac previously served as Diversity Analyst at AccessLex Institute where he improved diversity in legal education and acted as a resource for prospective minority students, including a key role launching LexScholars, a diversity pipeline program targeting prospective law students from underrepresented racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. Isaac also worked as a Law Fellow with the NAACP General Counsel Office in Baltimore, Maryland, working on civil rights protections.

Isaac earned his law degree from the University of Maine School of Law and his Masters in Law (LL.M.) from American University with certificates in both International Human Rights and International Trade and Investment law. In law school, Isaac served as Editor-In-Chief of the Ocean and Coastal Law Journal and President of the Black Law Students Association. He was awarded the Edward S. Godfrey Leadership award for making the most significant contribution to a student-edited law journal during his years at the law school, as well as the Faculty Award of Community Service.
Isaac obtained his undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman University, where he played on the football team and served as a Bonner Scholar.
Isaac comes from a family with a strong commitment to military service including his father and grandfather, who served in the Navy, and his brother, who served in the Army.
