  • Produce analyses of the trends in victim complaints about postsecondary institutions.
  • Lead the organization’s consumer protection work, including drafting petitions to the Federal Trade Commission and other agencies, and crafting the legal strategy to hold accountable postsecondary institutions that are engaged in illegal practices.

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a licensed attorney with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Brings experience in consumer protection, higher education, and/or veterans legal rights.
  • Brings familiarity with the consumer protection provisions in Title IV, Title 38, Title 10, and/or state consumer protection laws in order to “issue spot” legal issues in whistleblower and student complaints.
  • Brings demonstrated success leading a small team.
  • Is media savvy and policy savvy.
  • Is a smart legal strategist.
  • Is detail-oriented, exacting, and painstaking about evidence and facts.
  • Is careful, clear, and detailed in all written products, including being meticulous about every fact, footnote, and citation.
  • Brings a trained legal mind to “issue spot” legal issues during victim and whistleblower interviews.
  • Is a strong public speaker.
  • Is a team player, comfortable working in an egalitarian, team-driven work environment.
  • Is a self-starter, capable of managing workflow and deadlines independently, and able to produce quality work without supervision.
